Description: In what he described as a presentation rather than a concert or lecture, Will Kaufman, an American academic, singer and multi-instrumentalist, outlines the historical context of many of the songs of Woody Guthrie, one of the most iconic figures on the folk music scene. He illustrates it with slides of contemporary photographs projected onto a huge screen behind him as he talks about and sings Woody Guthrie’s empathetic and now so-familiar songs of the Dust Bowl refugees and the Great Depression of the 1930’s. |
